Port Security

What does this security mean to us?

We should all be able to continue to operate the way that we have in the past. As of January 01, 2007 the requirement to hold a valid Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) to gain entry to a Maritime Security Zone (MSZ) came into effect.

This means that all persons that require unescorted access or regular access to a MSZ must have a valid MSIC and have completed the DPA site safety induction to gain access to the site.

The only exception to this is those visitors whose business is with Port Administration. This area is not within the MSZ and persons visiting this area will not be required to have an MSIC or have completed the DPA site safety induction.

The port security system has electronically controlled boom gates and a swipe card will be required to access the port. These swipe cards will be either:

  • A DPA MSIC card (Compatible with the DPA security system).
  • An MSIC card printed by the Fremantle Port Authority (Compatible with the DPA security system and issued through a WA Port Issuing body).
  • A DPA issued swipe card – These will be issued to those people who have an MSIC issued by any other issuing body. (These MSIC’s are not compatible with the DPA security system).
If you have any queries about access to the Dampier Port Authority site please call either of the following:
  • MSIC office – 9159 6500, or
  • The Port Safety & Security Officer – 9159 6518 or 0407 902 221.

Your MSIC card and your DPA access card are to be kept secure at all times.

Lost or stolen MSIC cards must be reported within 24 hours to the Police and your issuing body.

DPA access cards are to be reported to the MSIC office or Port Safety & Security Officer immediately.

Applications for an MSIC may be made by following the link on the DPA Homepage.

Inductions

Sessions for the DPA site safety induction are conducted twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) and are by appointment only. The sessions commence at 1.00pm, access to the induction room after 1.00pm will not be permitted. Other sessions may be considered due to demand.

All appointments and inquiries should be directed to the Port Safety & Security Officer on 9159 6518 or 0407 902 221.
